Today I spent most of the day channeling Aunt Donna, making her baklava and koulourakia, for tomorrow’s luncheon after the memorial. It was a fun time tonight having dinner and getting the table arranged with my cousins. Tomorrow will be hard … 😢
Breaking in a new birthday gift from @ljreina today. You can never go wrong with peanut butter and chocolate! Clearly I am lacking in self control because I have eaten two and it’s only been 30 minutes! Kudos to @debperelman for another killer cookbook! There are so many recipes I am excited to try!
After the fire we decided to change the the living room a bit, but I simply could not part with the sofa. It was my grandmother’s, a Henredon, over 70 years old. So off to @fovama_westchester we went last week to find a rug that would tie it all together. Just like the other we had (colors sadly did not work anymore) we found the perfect new carpet. Many thanks to the Ahmadi family for setting us up once again!
Chicken soup always seems to be right dish to make one feel better. But when you are lacking the energy to pull out the stops, a little help from the pantry never hurts! Poaching the tiny chicken balls keeps them light and the soup free from the unattractive floating white protein. And yes, I did eat that whole sleeve of saltines! #notsorry @sovafarms @betterthanbouillon @penzey_spices #chickensoup #farro #tryingtofeelbetter
